ACN Scam Or Just Bad ACN Reviews From Some Pissed Off Reps?

The ACN scam claims were mostly born because of misinformation! Read why below…

ACN Scam - ACN ReviewsSo here is one of the most unbiased, 3-rd party ACN reviews. I have no take in ACN and I have reviewed numerous MLM companies which gives me a good perspective on the ACN business opportunity and products and also on what it takes to successfully build the business.

Whether you are considering joining ACN (American Communications Network) or are already a member, there is important information you should know. Many network marketers are aware that being part of a big and successful company would only do so much for your success. All businesses, regardless of the industry they belong to, have their fair share of ups and down and scam complaints and the multilevel marketing companies are no different. It is just a question of finding what is true and what is not.

Why so many ACN scam claims and noise?

What most people would want to know first is whether or not ACN is a legitimate business because people nowadays are wary of “pyramid scams“.

Unfortunately, many people associate the network marketing business with scams due to the nature of the business model. The fact that many network marketers who failed in the business continue to spread negative publicity is not helping at all. If you look online, you will see two sides – one telling people that ACN is legit and one claiming that it is a scam. Let’s have a deeper look at the ACN company and business to find out what ACN is all about.

ACN Review – The Company

ACN (American Communications Network) is one of the largest telecommunications company with headquarters in Concord, North Carolina. It was founded in January 1993 by four gentlemen – Robert Stevanovski, twin brothers Mike and Tony Cupisz and Greg Provenzano. Over the years, ACN developed a reputation in selling telecommunications services in the United States as well as in other parts of the world. Deregulation in the telecommunication industry made it possible for the multilevel marketing company to resell services from major providers such as T-Mobile or Verizon in their Wireless segment.

Not so many reviews of the ACN products

As far as network marketing companies are concerned, you want to choose a company that has great product lines. The more value a product has, the bigger your income potential is.

When ACN started, the company was selling long distance phone calling services to consumers and small scale businesses. Over the years, the network marketing company acquired assets that enabled them to resell other services in the telecommunications niche. In addition to their home phone and mobile calling services, ACN also offers VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol, dial-up and high speed internet and satellite television service. One of their flagship products, the Iris 3000 videophone debuted in the reality TV show The Celebrity Apprentice on March 22, 2009.

The ACN reviews of the business opportunity may be missing some critical information

What most of the ACN reviews will show you are the simple facts: If you want to establish your own ACN business, you can start by becoming an independent distributor. As soon as you pay the $499 start-up fee, you can start selling the products, invite other people to join your team and earn residual income from your sales and sales of other members in your network. That’s what you will find most of the time.

What you won’t find in these ACN reviews is this: I have been to several ACN business opportunity presentations and it all look sleek and nice. After doing some deeper research however, I discovered that it is REALLY tough to make it in the telecommunication industry as the competition is fierce and the margins can be very small. The residual payout is only 1/4 of a percent on the first 5 levels. That’s 1.25% for 5 level! Are you serious?!?! ACN rely on a lot of sponsoring bonuses to create commissions which may not be what you really to be involved with as your residual income may not be as consequent as with another company with a better compensation plan.

Going beyond the ACN scam claims and the ACN reviews

All in all, ACN is a legit company and there is absolutely no ACN scam. Many people would say that $499 is a lot of money to get started and this is especially true since there is no guarantee in the multilevel marketing business. They have good tech products but the margins and commissions of the compensation plan are REALLY small.

Selling the business and the opportunity however may also prove to be challenging especially if you are new to the network marketing business. But this will be true in any company.

To overcome this you need to level up in terms of marketing skills and if you want to succeed in the industry, you need to leverage the opportunities provided by the internet. How many friends and family are actually willing to purchase your products and join your team? Most likely, not so many…

So after reading this and other ACN reviews (and determine you’re confident there is no ACN scam), if you decide it is for you (and if you decide to join another company this still applies!), please make sure you learn how to market your business so you won’t be the next person that will scream about an ACN scam!

I personally use a very duplicable system to build my business and I make sure my team can use the same system without a need for complicated set ups and full rocket science degrees! 1. Most of the time these complaints are real, but you can never tell. After awhile I learned how to tell at my blog whether or not people are just reviewing negative to hurt rep.

    • Perig says:

In my opinion, most of the “scam” complaints are not true. I mean, most people use the word “scam” for anything that they think doesn’t work or has not worked for them.

If there really is a scam then absolutely we must talk about it and talk loud. Otherwise it is up to the marketers or reps to do their due diligence and work it smart. It is not because someone doesn’t succeed that it is a scam…

  2. Roger says:

It’s true that dumb people will label anything as a scam, when they don’t know much about it. But rest assured, ACN REALLY IS A SCAM and I’ll explain why. The system is designed to attract new reps by any means necessary other than outright illegal activity, which sometimes still happens (see “slamming”). The “any means necessary” approach is completely unethical and immoral. They intentionally withhold vital information from you, and tell you lies and misinformation which they think will look favorable in your eyes. They set incredibly unrealistic and unreasonable expectations and goals which most people could never attain, even if they did everything in their power to do so. The only thing keeping ACN legal is their videophone. It’s the only thing they actually sell, otherwise they’d be an illegal pyramid scheme. But the videophones are old technology and don’t even work half the time. They are basically a symbolic product that reps use to prove ACN is legal and that it is “cutting edge”. But even die hard ACN reps shy away from talking about the videophone too much because they know it is not very remarkable. All this just screams SCAM to me. And what is a scam after all? It’s people deceiving you in order to get your money. Is this NOT what ACN is doing?!?

I guess it comes down to whether or not you’d consider a Casino a scam. Yes, Casino’s are legal. But we all know they have an unfair advantage and will likely take your money. The same is true with ACN.

    • Perig says:

Hi Roger, thank you for your insight in ACN.

    • Dan Manoly says:

Huh? Acn sells a lot more than just video phones… And their digital phone service (even without video) is extremely competitive.

Theyre partnered with major monopolies as a reseller… And their digital Phone app is amazing.

PS – Microsoft bought skype, and they’re developing a video phone. So… Yeah. It’s coming.

Dan (I buy the products… Not a rep)

    • Perig says:

Thank you for your inside information Dan, always appreciated!

    • The real reason why you believe ACN is a scam is probably because you have not either tried it and/or given your best effort. As with any business in a failing economy, times get tough. I cannot believe what I see in this company right now. People are making money. Thats right.Making money because they got up off their butts and went out to get customers. If a military soldier stationed in Kuwait can climb the ladder of success with a limited atmosphere then what was holding you back with America at you disposal? I’ll tell you.Nothing!!!! My wife and I are in and not just a little bit. All the way. ACN and its family which is what its all about. Helping family and friends make money and save money. The support team is awesome. People say they dont have anyone to talk too, but that is totally false. You have members all around you to help you succeed.
So stop making excuses and get to work.

  3. T. Jordan says:

ACN is an absolutely awful company to deal with. They trap you into a contract with them from the day you order services, even tho’ it takes them about a month to activate your service. No one told me this was a VOIP phone system, which doesn’t work with my ADT home security system. When I tried to cancel ACN within 9 days of ordering, they wouldn’t allow it. They told me I had to wait ’til services were activated before they could be canceled, then pay a $225 termination fee:. Both Verizon and Time Warner told me there should be 30 days to cancel, but this company gives you 3′. Then they told me I should have reviewed my contract to find out it was a VOIP system that wouldn’t work with ADT/. I am now stuck without a home phone or home security system/. They told me they’d set up a case and call me within a week, which they never did’. When I called them, they kept telling me to wait ’til the end of the day on 6/24, and when I did, the department was closed;. How convenient! Beware of this company.. They are just awful

    • Perig says:

      Hi T. Jordan,

Thank you for your feedback here. I have personally not dealt with them but your feedback is good for people to learn more about some details and experiences.

  4. Rick Fraser says:

I agree that ACN is legit .The people who call this a scam, first of all did not do their deligent home work before joining .
Of course when you buy the product , they don’t disclose all the details to you, although one still need to read the fine prints.
But again I think the information you provided is good enough for anyone looking into ACN, to make a decision as to whether this is the company they will like to work with.

  5. Marck says:

my wife and I where invited yesterday to one of there seminars and the moment I saw the video phone
and heard the speaker claim that this was the best thing out red flag (should of grab my wife and ran for the door)
but I was polite and my wife to so we stayed then one of the speakers starting talking about how mike brought in
his uncle and his cousin and his sisters boy friend and that he was some thing or other I lost it in his cousin part
the meeting went for more than 2 hours I felt bad for the person who invited us. the fun part was when the meeting
was over this man came to say hi to the person who invited us and as soon as he grab a near by chair to seat
down I said here we go the cobra is in my layer they tried every thing to convince me and my wife not only him
but a one of the speakers I had fun with them I ask them if they know who to knoll was and they said no
I told them that if he was the speaker he could have my 500 in a nano sec . as the where speaking to me and my
wife I was looking over the back of there contract people please excuse my french they got you by the( bls)
at the end another speaker came by I was by my self I told him let me borrow 500 and if I do good in 30 days I’ll
double it he smile and politely said no.

  6. Danny says:

I have since found out, a year later, what happened to the ACN reps who tried to get me and my friend involved. Everyone of them has quit and lost all their money they put in. This went all the way up from ETT, to TC, to the RVP who is still in ACN, but was downgraded to TC once his organization downsized. So that means at least a half dozen reps failed right there (that I personally know of), and those were ones who were actually making progress and were signing people up. Even when you are recruiting actively you are likely to still fail. The only reason ACN is even still around is so that the people who are already in it can salvage whatever they can out of it and make a few more bucks from the last round of suckers they can draw in before the whole scheme goes belly up. That’ is the truth about ACN. Stay away!

  7. bob says:

I recently signed up as a rep there is no doubt you can make money. After going to a training I realized its like a cult. Everyone at the training say the same things. If you have no problem lying to your friends and family to get them to sign up under you as a rep then you will have no problem making money. I cancelled my account after a couple days. When you call people to go to a meeting at your house the reps want you to be very vague in any description of why your having the meeting just so the people will go and get brain washed. So with that being said its a legal business and you can make money but a what cost, losing friends and family or your pride.

    • Noah says:

My friend got hooked into this. He is soo sucked in and i feel soo bad for him. I know if i tell him he will freak and get mad at me and possibly end our friendship. But also he wants me to get involved too. I am a 2nd year business student in university and the second i went to the meeting he invited me too with other friends and two higher ups in the company i knew it was all shit. I know exactly what your saying in this comment and it is 100% true. If only he would see what is really going on and not being blinded by the smoke ACN is putting infront of him. Sad story :(

    • Perig says:

      Hey Noah,

I think your exposure is limited to just a few individuals and may not represent the whole company or every person. The issue in our industry is that a lot of people are still doing what was taught in the 90s and that is the only thing they know. It worked fine in the 90s as the number of companies was limited but it does not anymore.

Don’t bash on your friend or the company because it is not their fault. Have a look at how I do things, I don’t bug my friends or take them to pushy meetings. You won’t get the results you want if you go front to front with your friend. If you really want him to succeed, help him find a better way for him to succeed and tell him about it with the right intentions!

Give me a call and I can really help you help your friend: 510-457-8822

  8. Anon says:

ACN prays on the indigent and foreign. Several of the big shots from NY that came to Texas were not interested in talking to some of my American friends I had. They were more worried about getting my black and Mexican friends to show up. I eye witnessed this scumbag literally talk one of his own so-called friends into taking out a credit card at 19.99% just to pay the 500. The iris video phone is garbage. The codec on the phone is terrible and cannot be used for modem transmission/faxing.

  9. Anthony Figueroa says:

Like Perig said people use the word scam for everything they can’t work,; ACN works and I am living proof as an Executive Team Leader in the company. Now I am going to point out right now, its not for everybody. Just cause you joined your not automatically entitled to richness. ACN is a business and you have to put in alot of work and time just like any other business you want to boom. Let me tell you it was not easy

    • Noah says:

I was at a meeting today to get me to buy into ACN and i was polite but will not. But after reading your comment i dont get it. All the guy kept saying was that it doesnt take tiem at all, 5 hrs a week hr said. Now i read yours and you say you need tons of effort to be successful. Can you enlighten me on this seemingly “smokescreen” approach to buying into ACN and making money.

    • Perig says:

      Noah,

Both people are actually right, it all depends HOW you build the business. 1h per day will work depending on your personal place in life, the size of your network and your expertise in networking and marketing.

Unfortunately most people who get started have NO expertise just like I did not have any expertise whatsoever when I got started because I am an engineer. Not even close ;)

But I got to work and I worked a lot more than 5h/week because I knew I had to bring my skills up and I needed to educate myself before I could start building a network marketing business. I went to school for 5 years before I start working as an engineer. Why would I expect to be able to be successful before educating myself? I knew it.

Unfortunately I think people are misled about this upfront and that is why most people do not succeed. The expectations are disconnected from the reality…

When I talk to people, I do not TELL them what it will take, I ASK them what do they expect and what they WANT to put in the business. Then I tell them what type of results they can expect… Much better IMO.

In any case, like I said in a message a little bit higher on this page as a reply to another of your comments (thanks by the way, it shows you care about your future and your friend future!), people still use old methodology of building business. The times have changes, so the expectations and methods need to change.

I am glad you do your research and you are involved, most people do not! Again if you need any specific answer to any question, do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone (I am a real person an pick up the phone most of the time)

  10. Seth Hobbie says:

It’s simple, simple, simple math people. First off ACN is not a scam …period. Nor is it an illegal pyramid scheme. It is legit, it is in very poor taste but it is legit. Think of it this way….

    Upfront $500
say you buy a couple of products to boost yourself
set up costs for each 50$ – total $100
monthly recurring charge say one is $15 and one is $40
say in two months you get your first check $40
then the promises that oh you are just 3 product subscriptions away from the next level where you get the big bonus… you make it in another week and get the check $420 dollars.
    WOW this is growing…
a couple of weeks later you get another check for $50. cha ching!
That is $510 dollars you just made your money back .

This IS how it plays out people… now lets break down what this means.

My son got sucked into ACN and I see firsthand how many hours he pours into it daily. I will be conservative and say he puts 25 hours a week into it and that’s over a lets say summer break, 3 months give or take. 4 weeks a month 3 months 25 hours a week… 300 hours. Conservatively. 510 dollars divided by 300 hours is …. $1.70 an hour … after taxes. If you worked at any McDonald in the world for half those hours you would have made more than you gave ACN, think it through people.

    But wait there is more.

You forgot about the money you gave THEM. If you total up the numbers I gave you earlier you have given them $765 of your money so if we subtract the $510 they gave you, you have a net loss of $255 for your 300 hours of dedication.

So lets do the math again. -255/300 is you giving them $0.85 an hour to let you recruit more people to give them at least $500 bucks a person. Like i said before it is legal but in poor taste.

I think most of us are intelligent enough to see where I am going with this argument. If not email me and ill carry on for you.

Let me explain how I handled the pressure from my son. I went to the meeting prepared …. not with tricky questions. Not with marketing stratagem arguments. I went… with my bank statement and a smart phone.

When we were all hob knobbing and talking about how we are all going to get rich on this i said to the group of 27 people there that I wanted to ask a question. Once I had their attention I said if you are a guest and not a rep sit down… 4 people sat down. 23 left. I said if you live with your parents sit down. Only 3 left stand. Myself and 2 gentlemen (happened to be roommates) in their 20′s. I said ok I have a challenge I will sign up today if you can meet it. Here is a copy of my bank statement printed a couple of hours before I came here look at the time stamp. If either of you can show me your bank statement right here on my phone and have as much money as I do I will give you the credit and I will sign up under you. I left that day never signing up with ACN and never being harassed to come back.

Of course they had every reason and excuse in the world from I have a high paying job to it takes time to build to the level they want to reach, but is that not true of everything worth striving for in life?

This is a 100% true story. I’m nobody special. I am a 40 year old video game enthusiast. I am a regional training manager for McDonalds not a high paying job at all. I own my own small 3 bedroom 115,000 dollar home. That day my bank statement had $233.41 in it. Please realize people that your time is valuable and it is worth more than the -$0.85 an hour ACN is willing to pay you.

    • Erick says:

Thanks for braking it down. I just came from a meeting and it smelled like bs. The reps were bragging about all the money they are making when I went outside I didn’t see any fancy cars to show and prove.

    • Perig says:

Hey Erick, just be careful because not everyone is about fancy cars. Ask to see the “back office” if you want to see what money is made and claimed.

  11. Rick Martin says:

There are some very interesting comments regarding ACN. I am not affiliated with ACN in anyway but they are in an exciting industry.
The experiences like with any other business of this type will vary. ACN is obviously a ligitimate business and a contender in the growing market in the telecommunication field. They provide an opportunity for those who want to take advantage.

You can walk into any retail store today who don’t really specialized in any one area and you will most likely find people will have very little knowledge of the products and services they offer. You may find yourself knowing more than the people who are working in the store. Compare that with someone who has no or little experience in business selling a business idea to someone who often knows nothing about business.

Just imagine in a company whom you work for it takes, several people with different skill set to accomplish the task of the day. Just imagine one person trying to do all those tasks everyday. Although many of those things are done at the coporate level, in the Direct Sales Business , the skills required to successfully navigate in the Home Based Business Arena , take a lot of practice and effort and often times more money than most people expects and understand is required. Often times that is not explained to an unsuspecting prospect.

I say don’t let negative experiences derail your dreams and goals. The road to success is an up hill climb and if you keep on keeping on, and not let little things get in your way, you will succeed.

You may choose to focus on the negative, without a doubt that is what you will find. That can be said for any other organization because the nature of the MLM model. More often than not the information you receive from a rep whom has not yet developed the knowledge of the products and services and the effective communication skills, will be of poor quality.

If anyone choose to be a representative of any MLM , they must decide for themselves to build their business with integrity and honesty. It is true that people join people and not Companies. This is why personal branding is very important.

    • Perig says:

I could not have said it better Rick, thanks very much for this constructive comment. Everyone, Rick is right on the money when he says “don’t let negative experiences derail your dreams and goals. The road to success is an up hill climb and if you keep on keeping on, and not let little things get in your way, you will succeed.”

If you believe you can make it in ACN, go for it, 100% commitment and you will make it happen when you choose the right system that works for you.

If it’s not ACN there is for sure other solutions for you. Do your research, pick something and commit to never quit until you reach your goals and dreams!
      .

  12. valerie claudette says:

I was invited by a friend to a “Business meeting”, and was told to invite as many people as I can, when we arrived at the hotel, there were approximately 30 people including the various reps. for ACN, my friend disappeared during the entire 2 hrs meeting, indidually each rep. spoke, one said that the videophone was £10 pm at no time was the price of £144.00 was mentioned, this only came to light when I went on my friend’s website which she parted with £199.00, something that was mentioned was misleading,, after the meeting finished, my friend took awhile before coming to us, myself and the person I took left,, she was unsure about what was said, because she slept during the session,,, my friend who invited me, wants me to sign up,,, she has since been on a training course, and is desparate for me to join, if not purchase some items from her website,, the only item interest was the videophone, as I mentioned to her but would not pay £144 + £10 and other charges pm when i would not be seeing my family or friends when I call them because they would not have the said videophone,, further more I can use Skype and have the same effect for free,, she went on to say the training was so brilliant I could travel to other parts of the world when there are other training,,,I feel sorry for my friend because she sees as a way of earning over £1000 pm. part time, I find it would involved to much of my precious time and away from family,,

  13. LKS says:

You are clearly a market shill for ACN.

    • Perig says:

I can assure you that I have no tie whatsoever with ACN and will most likely never will because I have evaluated and found out it was not for me.

  14. Truly Unbiased says:

    Perig,

It’s obvious, even if you aren’t a salesrep for ACN, that you are biased towards this business model. Apparent from your story and subsequent answers.

And by the way, calling something “legit” doesn’t mean it’s not a scam. It’s just not legally acknowledge as such yet. For example take drugs, all the time a new drug pops up and lawmakers rush to make a new law calling it illegal. With bussinesmodels as these it’s just harder to reckonize because of there vagueness…

    • Perig says:

Well I guess it depends what you mean when you use the word “scam”. If it means “it doesn’t work for me so it must be a scam” then you’re probably right. The business model has been around for over 60 years and has been validated and accepted all over the world. It’s like saying. most people do not make money using the Intermet so it must be a scam too… I guess it’s all about opinion but using the work “scam” for everything and anything is what is creating confusion with people.

  16. Jeff says:

I bought into the ACN deal in August, 2009. I have a fairly successful carpet care business but I was looking for something on the side to supplement so my wife could quit her job and stay home with the kids. I saw the video and listened to the pitch. It seemed like it would work and everyone was very enthusiastic. Of course, the highlight the extreme success stories and all the “Gold Circle Club” members who are recognized at the ACN conventions on stage in huge pomp.and circumstance. Come to find out, they are the same people who, even though they became very wealthy with ACN, they travel to the various conventions, and are essentially motivational speakers.
Myself and the members of my “team” traveled to the convention in Charlotte, NC in Oct 2009 for the ACN conference. It was pitched as a “must attend” if you want your business to be a success. Donald Trump would be there and we would be able to meet him. I must say that it was the most over hyped bunch of baloney I have ever been associated with. And, no I, nor anyone else was allowed within 100ft of Trump (not that I care) but the entire trip, with Hotel, travel and Conference registration ($197.00) cost me about $500, and I had to sleep on a couch in the hotel because there were 5 of us in a room.
After the Convention, there was “hugely important” meeting called at another hotel about 50 blocks from the convention center. We had been listening to the talking heads for 8 straight hours and hadn’t eaten since lunch (it was now after 8pm). All the team leaders and their downlines were taken to the conference rooms of the hotel where the ACN founders were staying. They paraded us past the Bentley’s parked outside and into the rooms where we waited……and waited. 45 minutes later, one of the Team leaders announced that there was a very special guest on his was to speak to us. Turned out it was someone I hadn’t heard of and couldn’t have cared less about. We heard the same recycled schpeel we had been hearing all day, but now they we’re pitching for us to “HURRY AND SIGN UP FOR THE SAN DIEGO CONVENTION BEFORE IT SELLS OUT.” Which was less than 2 months away. Mind you, I had already spent $1,000.00 out of pocket for this can’t miss opportunity and now they want me to fly from Southeastern KY to San Diego to watch the same people parade across a stage and listen to the same hype backed with that blaring techno-crap music. NO thanks.
I surrendered my my ACN business in August of this year. After the Charlotte trip, multiple weekends trips to Cincinnatti, and hundreds wasted on renting a conf room at a local hotel. I signed up 2 people and got back a whopping $109.00 in commission. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I suppose but I should have taken all the money I spent and paid it on credit card debt. I’d be debt free by now.
Oh, and the IRIS 3000 video phone is a cheap made piece of crap and if you don’t have high speed internet, it doesn’t work half the time. If the person you are talking to doesn’t have a video phone, it is nothing more than a glorified digital photo frame. If they do, the feed is grainy, dark and not in real-time, so the motions are jerky. In fact, I just cancelled my ACN phone service today.
My advice from someone who knows is please don’t buy into the hype. You will never become rich in multi-level marketing unless you get in on the ground floor. All you will do is make others ahead of you more rich.

    • dbest says:

My husband and I went to one of the meeting in Michigan and I enjoyed it. We are going again next Saturday. Now if I didn’t go to the meeting, I would have assume it was a scam. The way I was drawing in I didnt like. I was looking for work and a lady to me that she had a friend who was hiring for me to give him a call. She told me that they were business partners and that she would hired me but she couldn’t because of common interest. So I call the number she give me and spoke to guy. He went on to ask me question as my education background and my previous job experience and i told him. We schedule a date for my interview. He told me his business was to far for me and he understand gas so he decided it would be best for him to meet me halfway and that was cool but Im hurt that he didn’t come at me with more of an honest approach. As he got to talking about ACN I have to admit it caught my interest. We have another meeting but in the back of my mind it’s that what if theme……. so before I pay $499 can I continue to go to the meetings? Just so I can feel more comfortable in this company.

I’ve just started with ACN. The ‘training event’ in Charlotte in February was something like Jeff’s description of his experience in 2009. The attendees are mostly 20 – 30 years old, the music is suggestive of a rave, and the presentations amount to a long stream of motivational speakers touting the wonders of ACN. So what did he expect? ACN is a business, and enthusiastic partners are it’s life-blood. No company-specific event is going to feature depressing nay-sayers. The event was never offered to me as being a one-on-one experience with anyone like Donald Trump. He was there as a speaker. On the other hand, I did get to meet some of the higher-ups in my upline, including people at the RD, RVP, and SVP level. I can say, without exception, that they were all personable, polite, intelligent, and helpful without being pushy at all.

The business model has been tweaked a bit, to add good bonuses for team-building. Reaching ETT within 30 days will recoup your buy-in, plus some. The bonuses get very significant at the ETL level and above. And there are more products available. What got my attention was the addition of gas and electricity to the product line.

I don’t expect to turn this into a full-time occupation right away. I’m starting something new, and I need to develop new skills. This is not a ‘get rich quick’ scheme, but I think it has better potential than the salaried jobs I’ve been working. I can describe my track record thus far as ‘get rich never’. Obviously, I have to make some changes.

So, I’m doing contract work for short-term cash flow, and using my ACN associates, the ACN back office, and the YBA tools and features to get some MLM training. All my life, I’ve been held back by some personal traits that have hindered my ‘people skills’. Up until now, I addressed this by working in activities of a highly technical nature, where a high degree of skill serves to excuse such quirks. My time with ACN is helping me to be a better person.

What others have called negative earnings, I see as inexpensive training. And I do expect to turn this opportunity into significant earnings in the future.

Well, a lot of the responses are either ACN horror stories and backlash or weird stalwart defense of the company, missing the point of the post. The question is whether ACN is a scam or not, and the author seems to be bending the rules of the definition to be able to say no. An old work friend approached me about ACN today (to get me to an event on Saturday…), and immediately I could tell that it was a pyramid/get-rich-quick scheme. Yes, ACN supporters will tell you that you have to work hard to make money, but that is how all scams like this work… So I’m defining “scam” as this being a business that has you lying to your family and friends about an “opportunity” with a $500 upfront fee (that my friend didn’t even mention…), “selling” some vague services (he also told me no selling, which seems to go against it being a communications business…), and generally being brainwashed. Sure, you COULD make money… It’s just that many online sources show that only 1 in 100 people do very well at it, and only 1 in 200 ever even make their money back. So over 99% of people involved lose $500? All that money goes to higher ups in the company and the grunts that can’t succeed are branded as “losers” (look at any website with comments from ACN workers: they refer to the people who have been burned by the company in all manner of derogatory names! Your previous co-workers!!!)? Tell me how that isn’t a scam. Tell me how Montana isn’t blocking ACN from attempting to sell services (and recruit people to do so) that can’t even function due to lack of Internet connectivity. So it’s clearly a scam, and part of it is looking like a legit business… My friend, today, spoke to me like a Stepford robot, incapable of deviating from his script or bullet points… He literally could not break character and talk to me about anything else. Is that how normal people act? How many millionaires out there act like weird alien puppets who can’t stop selling you on some garbage business plan? Desperate people act that way, and successful people aren’t generally desperate weirdos. SCAM. The sheer number of bitter suckers ranting online about how they were conned by this company should clue anyone in to the fact that, even if YOU are personally successful at tricking your loved ones into giving your overlords $500, your loved ones WON’T be successful, and you’ve just ripped them off. It’s like a scam in a nice dress, but still very clearly unrelated to the amount of work you do equalling the amount of money you make. So… Yeah, clearly a scam.
